History
For centuries, the Tlingit people thrived here, relying on rich salmon runs and sea mammal hunting. In 1912, the Hoonah Packing Company built a state-of-the-art cannery that fueled local growth until its closure in the 1940s, leaving behind sturdy red-brick relics.
In 2004, the native-owned Huna Totem Corporation transformed the historic site into a premier cruise destination.
