The May cruise to Iceland will be in the spirit of the absolute novelty that Riviera Tour has prepared for its clients this year in response to the geological situation on the island. In a few days, we will start selling a brand new trip along the route of the world-famous Golden Circle, to which we will add a visit to two famous waterfalls and a black beach in the south of the island. A trip that no other tour operator offers in one day. So there is really something to look forward to.
The new trip was created by Riviera Tour in response to the current geological situation on the island, which makes it impossible to visit the Blue Lagoon, which was a popular destination during our two-day visit to the capital Reykjavik. Therefore, we decided to combine our clients' well-known trip around the Golden Circle with a visit to the most beautiful places in the southern part of the island, combined with a visit to a local restaurant during lunch. The result is a 12-hour mega-trip on which we visit the truly greatest sights of the Southwest Iceland area in one day.
Our trip will start in the port of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, from where we will first set off on a tour of the major attractions of the so-called Golden Circle, where we will get to know all forms of the Icelandic landscape thanks to its diverse environment. We will first visit Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, an area with narrow basalt canyons and a multitude of rivers, streams and small waterfalls, where we will get a glimpse of the foreland between the Eurasian and North American plates from above and below (depending on time, we will walk in the fault). Next, we arrive at the Haukadalur geothermal area with the world's largest geyser Geysir, which gave the phenomenon its name. We will end our Golden Circle tour at the Gullfoss waterfall, one of the
After lunch (included in the price of the trip) we will head to the South Iceland area, where you will find equally famous, but less visited natural scenery due to the distance from the capital. The first is the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which you can walk around the rock overhang behind the waterfall and gaze at the breathtaking view of the countryside from behind the watery veil. Next is the nearby Skógafoss waterfall, one of the major icons of Iceland, with a view at the top. We then finish our trip with a walk along the famous black beach of Raynisfjara with its volcanic sand, impressive backdrop of cliffs, caves, rocks and lush green meadows. The beach is located below the famous glacial volcanoes Katla and Eyjafjallajökull, which closed the airspace of almost all of Europe for two days in 2010. Afterwards, with views of the beautiful Icelandic landscape, we return by bus to the port in Reykjavik.
If you are interested in this trip, don't hesitate too much. There are only 6 places left on the May cruise to Iceland via Scotland:
Warning: the duration of the hike is about 12 hours and it will often lead through less passable terrain, so consider your physical and health capabilities. The trip takes place in an area with intense geological activity, so please note the need to follow the instructions of the guide and delegate.
