Construction of MSC World America began on 24 October 2022 with the ceremonial cutting of the first steel plate at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. This key moment marked the start of production of the second World Class ship, with the official handover of sister ship MSC World Europa on the same day.
MSC Cruises chose to build this ship primarily due to the growing demand for luxury cruises in the Caribbean and North America.
