Ships and their division

MSC Cruises' fleet of vessels currently consists of twenty-two active and three planned ships, which are divided into six classes. Here, we'll review their basic details, the interesting features that distinguish them from the other classes, and which vessels are found in them. 

A ship class, or ship class, is the designation of a group of more or less identical ships built to the same plans. Ships of the same class are often referred to as "sister ships". A class of ships is usually named after the first completed unit (e.g., MSC Meraviglia is the first ship of the Meraviglia class).

World Class

Interesting:

• The Lirica class is named after MSC Lirica, the first ship built for MSC Cruises, not MSC Armonia, the oldest but bought-out ship in the fleet.

• the first class of MSC Cruises ships, it contains two types of vessels (Lirica type and Armonia type)

• Lirica type are the first vessels built for MSC Cruises, Armonia type bought from another operator

• renaissance program

• MSC Armonia hosted world statesmen at the 2001 G8 meeting in Genoa
