Excursions during the cruise

Excursions and harbour walks are an integral part of every cruise. Whether you are just planning to go out in front of the ship and settle down in the nearest café or pub, or you want to really "walk the streets", it is important to remember that a cruise holiday has certain specifics that cannot be overlooked, even in relation to the destinations visited.

Again, it is important to remember that you are on a cruise. It's not like a hotel where a taxi can arrive outside the front door. You're on a huge ship, and docking in port is no simple matter. Therefore, you need to take into account the fact that if you want to get into town in some ports and destinations, it will be a bit more complicated. If you are not linguistically proficient and well-travelled, we definitely recommend taking advantage of cruises with transportation and delegate, where you will take away a lot of the hassle of transportation in destinations and making arrangements with locals. But you still need to consider the investment in transportation in some ports.

Excursions in ports with a delegate

Although our delegate is presented as a technical delegate on the cruise, he will personally visit all the destinations visited with you. We have been cruising for the second decade and over the years of experience we think we really have something to offer you. During your cruise you will have the opportunity to experience not only the beauty and culture of the destinations you visit, but also the local food and drink.

The staff of RIVIERA TOUR have been travelling most of their lives and during this time we have gathered a lot of knowledge about the culture and local customs. So if you are interested in what you can't find in guidebooks, books and on the internet - the ordinary life of ordinary people in destinations - a port walk with a delegate is the right choice.If you want to go on a harbour tour on your own, the delegate will advise you on which interesting places to visit in the harbour, which cruise company excursion to buy, where to walk, whether to buy a sightseeing bus or a taxi.

In most destinations you will find very beautiful and interesting places, but in some cases they may be far away from the ship. The delegate usually knows in advance what places await the group on the cruise and can, unless the itinerary changes, plan the best route to explore the place itself in port. We also usually know in advance if the ship will land directly in port or if a tender or shuttle bus will be needed to get to town. This is priceless information and can save you a lot of money. Most clients will appreciate the services of the delegate and RIVIERA TOUR after they return from the cruise.

In cooperation with the cruise company, we also have facultative excursions in destinations in advance to make your holiday even more enjoyable. Selected excursions have the added advantage of being attended by a Riviera Tour delegate who will provide you with the necessary information during the trip, which will be especially appreciated by clients with language barriers. Please note that the delegate is not a guide on the trip. If the tour is in English, the delegate will try to provide you with information as soon as possible (sometimes in the case of other English-speaking clients, translation of the interpretation is not immediately possible).

Offer of trips with our delegate can be found in the cruise profile or we will send it to you when it is ready.* The price is the price at which you can buy the trip when you sign the travel contract and our CK guarantees this price even if the cruise company increases it. This price includes the pairing fee and taxes. This means that the price of our trip is always higher than, for example, on the ship or in port, but inalways our group will be together with the assistance of our Czech-speaking delegate.

*Facultative excursions with a Czech delegate are only on cruises with transport and delegate, on individual cruises clients participate in the excursions themselves.

Optional excursions with MSC Cruises

You can also take part in other cruises organised by MSC Cruises during your cruise with transport and delegate, as well as individual cruises. The cruise company offers guests in all ports of call a variety of excursions - from relaxing, cocktail-in-hand afternoons on the beach, to Harley rides, history and nature tours with knowledgeable guides, to adrenaline-pumping experiences. Travelers who love to discover new places will definitely enjoy this.

The prices of trips range from 40-200 € depending on the difficulty of the trip and additional services (lunch, entrance to sights, etc.). The prices of the trips will be communicated to you by our staff on request. Please note that trips are without the presence of a Czech delegate and are usually in one of the world languages. The current offer of optional excursions for your cruise will be provided by our travel agency staff on request prior to sailing. Optional excursions can also be purchased on board the ship, but at a surcharge of 15% of the price and some may sell out in advance. We therefore recommend that you purchase your excursions in advance.

Transfers in port

In some ports it is necessary to use boat transfers. These are mainly ports that are located further away from the historic centre. These transfers can only be purchased on board the ship and cannot be purchased in advance from the tour operator. The prices of these transfers are about 10-18 euros/person. Children have a discount on the transfers. Transfers can be purchased on the ship at the Excursion Desk on deck 6 or 7;

The most commonly used ports of call are Marseille, Salerno, Valencii, Barceloně, Mallorce, Ibize, Brindisi, Kodani, Malaze a Dubrovníku. In some ports (Civitavecchia, La Spezia, Salerno) is prohibited from the port and a port transfer - shuttle bus - will take you from the reception gate to the ship. This service is free of charge. If you are travelling with transport and a delegate, your delegate will take care of arranging the transfer tickets.

Tender

During the cruise there are ports where the ship cannot dock directly. Therefore, it will remain anchored in the open sea near the port and the cruise company will transport you to land free by tender. Tender is the transportation from ship to land either by lifeboats or hired boats in port. As a rule, when you tender in the morning before disembarkation, you must secure a disembarkation number (tender tickets), which determines the order and time of your disembarkation from the ship.  If you are travelling with transport and a delegate, your delegate will take care of securing the tender tickets.

RIVIERA TOUR CK provides the cruise booking service of MSC Cruises due to the high demand for cruises in individual destinations. Very often it happens that the trips are already sold out before the clients board the ship in presale. Therefore, CK RIVIERA TOUR has introduced the option of booking trips in presale.

Please note that optional excursions are not part of the travel contract, but only a reservation of additional services during your cruise-cruise. The cruise company reserves the right to change or cancel the excursions due to bad weather, unforeseen circumstances or low interest in the optional excursion. In the event of cancellation, you will be offered an alternative trip or the trip will be cancelled. In the event of cancellation, the price already paid for the booked optional excursion will be refunded on board the ship to your ship account.

In the case of non-English language requirements, arrangements should be made preferably on the first day on board the ship at the tour desk. Excursions in a language other than English are possible according to the possibilities of the cruise company. Please enquire on board the ship.
