History

Port Doha, known as the Doha Port, is one of the oldest ports in the Middle East. It is located in the capital city of Qatar, Doha, and has played a significant role in the country's history. The port was originally used for pearl trading, which was Qatar's main industry before the discovery of oil.

In the 20th century, the Doha Port underwent significant transformations, evolving from a traditional trading post to a modern, world-class harbor. The port was expanded and modernized to accommodate the growing oil industry. In 2017, the port was moved to a new location and renamed as Hamad Port to honor the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
