After last weekend, when MSC Cruises opened the world's largest cruise terminal in Miami, this weekend also marked a historic milestone - but this time in Europe. In the early hours of Saturday morning, a passenger disembarked the MSC Fantasia as the first-ever guest to use the services of Barcelona's new Terminal H. This state-of-the-art terminal will serve ships from MSC Cruises and its ultra-luxury subsidiary Explora Journeys and represents a significant infrastructure development for the MSC Group's cruise division.
This important moment was commemorated by Sandra Yunta, MSC Barcelona Terminal Director, and Gianluca Suprani, Vice President of Global Ports Development and Coastal Activities, who welcomed the first passengers with a celebratory toast.
The new cruise terminal, which is a peak architectural project by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura (RBTA), confirms MSC Group's commitment to Barcelona and its vision for the future. Covering approximately 12,500 square metres, it should accommodate up to 4 ships per week (190 per year). The project represents a total investment of approximately 50 million euros. Elegant and innovative design combines with an enhanced guest experience to ensure a pleasant and memorable visit to the famous Catalan city, most famous for the ongoing construction of Gaudi's Sagrada Família.
The official inauguration of the terminal is scheduled for the coming months, when further details will also be announced.
