Transport to the port (with transport and representative)
Before choosing a cruise, you need to decide where you want to go and what your language skills are. If your language skills are limited, we definitely recommend cruises with transport and a RIVIERA TOUR representative. If you have good language skills, you can travel to the port by plane or your own car. In this case, we offer a wide range of cruises, and it is really just a matter of choosing the cruise and the date. However, you must have at least minimal travel experience and good communication skills. For more information, see the section Individual Cruises.
Bus transport to the port
For cruises with transport and a representative, we provide transport to the port with our own Neoplan Citiliner and VDL coaches. Transport to the port is comfortable, thanks to the ample space in the coach and comfortable reclining seats, including the last row, which is the most spacious. Our coaches are equipped with toilets, air conditioning, DVD, CD and MP3 players with three LCD televisions. The coach is also equipped with blankets for night journeys.
During the journey to the port, we will offer members of our RIVIERA BENEFIT CLUB free coffee, tea, cappuccino or hot chocolate with whipped cream. Upon departure, you will receive a cold dinner and various snacks, including a bottle of water for the night crossing.
A hot breakfast will be prepared for you in the morning before arrival at the harbour. During the trip to the harbour, you can purchase chilled drinks: beer, Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, mineral water or even hot soups (at an additional cost). On the return journey from the port, a hot snack will be prepared for you again. The snack is the same for all clients.
The journey to the port always takes longer because you need to allow for extra time. Arrivals at the port are scheduled for the morning. Check-in for the ship begins at approximately 11:00 a.m. You will receive the exact departure times in the departure instructions, which we send approximately 30 days before departure.
Main bus route
The main bus route to the port is free of charge and runs through: Lidečko, Vsetín, Valašské Meziříčí, Rožnov p. Radhoštěm, Čeladná, Frýdek Místek, Ostrava, Hranice na Moravě, Olomouc, Prostějov, Vyškov, Brno, Břeclav, Bratislava.
Shuttle transfer (Prague - Brno)
Our travel agency offers clients the option of a shuttle transfer on the route: Prague, Chocerady, Humpolec, Jihlava, Velké Meziříčí to Brno, where you can transfer to the main bus to the port. The shuttle transfer is exclusively on request and its capacity is limited. The price of the transfer is CZK 890 per person for both journeys (Prague-Brno-Prague). It is not possible to book a one-way transfer.
Please note: For cruises departing from Hamburg, Kiel, or Wardemunde, the bus route is listed in the cruise programme.
Průběh cesty do přístavu autobusem
The journey to the port is probably the most challenging part of the entire trip. Given the traffic situation, we need to allow plenty of time. Venice is approximately 760 km away, Genoa approximately 1,400 km, and Kiel approximately 930 km.
Our coaches are spacious, all seats, including those in the last row, can be reclined, and for night journeys, the seats can be extended into the aisle for greater comfort. The bus is equipped with a light blanket for each customer to ensure greater comfort during the journey. You can also purchase inflatable pillows or other chilled drinks such as beer, cola, tonic, Mirinda, Sprite, mineral water or water from the drivers.
At the beginning of the journey, a representative will familiarise you with the itinerary, boarding procedures and all important information. During the journey to the port, there are regular stops approximately every 90 minutes. The length of the breaks is determined by the current traffic situation. In the morning, there is a longer break for personal hygiene and to prepare a hot breakfast, which is provided free of charge. During the journey to the port, you will receive a cold dinner for the journey, snacks and drinks. You can also request coffee, tea, cappuccino or hot chocolate with whipped cream free of charge during the journey itself.
Arrival at the port is scheduled for around 9 a.m. to allow for timely boarding. Before boarding, you will have enough time at the port to have a snack or take a few photos of the ship. Your boarding passes will be handed out by the representative on the bus. Your luggage will be labelled when you board the bus. Please note that it is not possible to place weapons, especially knives, large scissors and the like, in your luggage. All luggage undergoes strict security checks. Alcohol is also subject to security checks. Each cruise participant may take one piece of luggage weighing up to 30 kg and one piece of hand luggage (for more information, see the Luggage).
We would like to remind you that passengers are required to wear seat belts while the vehicle is in motion. During the journey, it is not permitted to stand in the aisle, lie on the floor, leave luggage in the aisle or talk to the driver.
The return journey from the port
The journey from the port is now faster and more comfortable. There are breaks approximately every two hours during the return journey. We stop at large Italian motorway service stations, where you can buy your last souvenirs from Italy, pasta, olive oil, cheese and similar items. A hot snack is also provided for you on the return journey, which will certainly come in handy.
Return to the Czech Republic depending on traffic conditions during the night, arrival in Brno at approximately 1:00 a.m. The arrival of the large coach will be followed by a transfer to Prague.
We pay very close attention to passenger safety during transport. Our drivers have been working for us for several years. The responsibility of both the drivers and our travel agency is truly great, and for these reasons, we do not use return transport, i.e. shuttle services, even though this increases the cost of transport to the port – safety comes first.
Reserving seats on the bus
Seats on the coach can be reserved for a fee of CZK 150 per person. If, for health reasons, you need a seat at the front of the coach, please let us know when signing the contract. We will try to accommodate you if possible. Families with children and members of the RIVIERA BENEFIT CLUB have priority. Before departure, we will send you the seating plan for the coach, which cannot be changed.
Approximate departure schedule
Departures from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Vienna are provided by our own coaches and minibuses. We organise pick-up transfers to make it easier to reach the main coach. The following table shows the pick-up points for the coach and pick-up transfers, including the surcharge for the pick-up transfer. The times listed are only approximate for preliminary planning of your holiday. About 30 days before departure, you will receive departure instructions from us, which will include the exact departure times of buses and transfers.
