Venice, located in northeastern Italy, is a city renowned for its canals and unique history. It was founded around the 5th century CE by refugees fleeing invasions of the Italian mainland after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Built on a series of small islands in the Venetian Lagoon, Venice became a powerful maritime republic by the Middle Ages, controlling trade routes between Europe and the East. Its wealth and influence grew through commerce in goods like spices, silk, and salt, making it one of the most prosperous cities during the Renaissance. Iconic landmarks such as St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace reflect this golden age.
By the 18th century, Venice's power declined as other European powers emerged, and it fell under the rule of the Austrian Empire and later Napoleonic France before becoming part of unified Italy in 1866. Today, Venice is a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its artistic heritage, architecture, and enduring charm. Known as the “Floating City,” it attracts millions of visitors annually, though it faces challenges such as rising sea levels and tourism. Venice remains a symbol of resilience, blending its rich history with modern efforts to preserve its cultural and environmental legacy.

After Santorini, probably the most beautiful destination, you will be attracted by the entrance to Kotor through the Kotor Bokou. You'll sail through southern Europe's largest fjord to the beautiful historic town, where we'd definitely recommend a hike up the local ramparts for incredible views of not only the city of Kotor, but the entire fjord. Just sailing through the fjord is a truly incredible experience. Just imagine, sitting on the deck of a boat, your favourite drink in hand, enjoying the surrounding nature that is truly within your reach. It's really an amazing destination.
The history of the port of Kotor in Montenegro is rich and vast, dating back to ancient times. It was an important commercial and artistic center during the Middle Ages, with its own famous school of masonry which contributed to the distinct architecture of the city.
Throughout its history, Kotor has been under the rule of various forces including the Byzantine Empire, the Serbian state, and the Venetian Republic. Under Venetian rule, it became a significant maritime power. The intricate fortifications, a 4.5 km long city wall built by the Venetians, are a testament to its historical importance and are a UNESCO World Heritage site today.
In Greek mythology, Mykonos was the scene of battles between Zeus and the Giants, and the island itself was named after Apollo's grandson Mykonos. Today, Mykonos is one of the most popular Greek islands. The island is famous for the many well-preserved windmills that can be found all over the island. The church of Panagias Paraportiani is also worth mentioning. There are also a number of good beaches on the island, especially on its southern coast. However, the island's nightlife is one of the most popular in the Mediterranean. During the day, Mykonos' quaint and quirky streets transform into a conglomeration of tavernas, pubs, bars and clubs that attract many tourists every night during the tourist season. Not only because of its romantic corners and beautiful architecture, but above all because of its wild party nature, Mykonos has become a popular and very popular resort among Europeans, and can be called the "Greek Ibiza".
Urgent transfer MSC CRUISES for an extra charge of approx. 12€.
The port of Mykonos, also known as the Old Port, has a rich history that dates back to the 5th century BC. It was a significant naval base during the Greco-Persian wars, contributing to the economic and military strength of Ancient Greece. The port's strategic location in the Aegean Sea made it an important hub for trade and navigation.
In the 20th century, the port of Mykonos transformed into a bustling tourist destination. Thanks to its picturesque views, vibrant nightlife, and beautiful beaches, it attracted visitors from around the world. Today, it continues to be a popular stop for cruise ships and private yachts, bearing testament to its enduring appeal and historical significance.
Definitely the most beautiful destination of the whole cruise. The beautiful white houses and churches in contrast with the blue colour will literally make you want to take a lot of beautiful photos. The ship is anchored in the open sea in the crater of a volcano. We are transported to the mainland by boats and then follow the donkey trail, which we definitely recommend for all adrenaline lovers, but also for fun (about 9 euros/person). Santorini is truly amazing and you too will admire the narrow streets, the many shops and cafes and above all the amazing views that tempt you to take endless photos.
The port of Santorini, also known as Athinios port, is located on the west coast of the island, in the caldera. Athinios port is the main commercial and passenger port of the island. Historically, Santorini did not have a natural safe harbor, so the current port was constructed in the 1960s to accommodate the increasing number of visitors to the island.
Before the construction of Athinios port, Fira Skala, a small port beneath the capital Fira, served as the main port. It was used primarily by fishermen and for the export of the island’s famous produce like tomatoes and fava beans. Amoudi port in Oia was also used for similar purposes. However, after the 1956 earthquake, it was decided to build a new, larger port to meet the growing demands of tourism and trade.
Ancona is definitely a very interesting city. We will be moored next to the shipyards in one of the largest ports in the Adriatic Sea. We'll climb through the historic centre to the local cathedral, where we'll have a wonderful view of the whole city and the harbour itself. On the way back you can visit some of the Baroque and Gothic churches, such as St Dominic's, or stop for a great Italian coffee and delicious ice cream. The town was founded by Greek colonists who, according to legend, fled Syracuse in 367 BC. It was first occupied by the Romans in 178 BC and conquered by Caesar when he crossed the Rubicon River. The city retained considerable autonomy, however, continuing to mint its own coins and speak Greek.
Ancona, a historic city located on the Adriatic coast of Italy, serves as the capital of the Marche region. Its origins date back to around the 4th century BCE, when it was founded by Greek settlers from Syracuse, who named it Ankon, meaning "elbow" in Greek, due to the shape of the coastline. The city's strategic location made it an important port for trade and navigation. During the Roman Empire, Ancona flourished as a prominent maritime hub, exporting purple dye and other goods. A notable remnant of this period is the Arch of Trajan, built in the 2nd century CE to honor the Roman Emperor Trajan for expanding and fortifying the port.
Throughout the Middle Ages, Ancona maintained its significance as a maritime republic, rivaling cities like Venice and Genoa in trading power. In the 16th century, it came under the control of the Papal States, which led to both economic challenges and architectural enrichment, as seen in landmarks such as the Ancona Cathedral (dedicated to Saint Cyriacus). Today, Ancona is renowned for its bustling port, historic monuments, and its role as a gateway to the Adriatic and beyond, blending its ancient heritage with modern vibrancy.
In the morning breakfast and after disembarkation departure from the port to the Czech Republic. During the return transfer we have prepared for you two hot snacks for the journey, coffee, tea, cappuccino and chocolate and chat about the ships and new destinations.
