History

The port of Dubai has a rich history, with its origins dating back to 1900s when it was established as a small fishing village. In the 1960s, the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, had the vision to transform the port into a major hub of maritime trade, leading to the construction of Port Rashid.

By 1979, Dubai's port was further expanded with the development of the Jebel Ali Port, the largest man-made harbor in the world, and the biggest port in the Middle East. Today, Dubai's ports serve as a crucial gateway for international trade and commerce. They have played a significant role in shaping Dubai's economy and its transformation into a global city.
