Specifics of cruises at sea

But before you decide to go on a cruise at sea, it's important to remember a basic fact: you're not going on a hotel holiday - you're not going on a sightseeing tour. You're going on a cruise. There are some pitfalls associated with this that need to be taken into account and we feel it is important and serious to inform you of some important facts.

The ship is a machine

On your holiday you will be accommodated on a boat and the boat is a machine. Therefore, it is possible that you may feel vibrations or noise from machinery and engines in your cabin during your cruise. This fact, even if it is minimal, must be accepted and you cannot request a replacement cabin or claim for changes, discounts, etc.

Itinerary of cruise circuits

Cruise itineraries are prepared up to 3 years in advance and our CK creates individual tours about two years before the planned sailing. During this time the political and especially security situation in the region can change. Please note that the cruise company and the Riviera Tour travel agency are entitled to make operational changes to the programme and services provided before and during the tour if it is not possible to provide the originally agreed programme and services. For tours to regions where the current safety situation may require a modification of the itinerary or the cruise, there is no breach of the tour contract if there is a deviation in the itinerary of the cruise not exceeding 60% of the originally planned itinerary. The customer acknowledges that any such deviation from the originally planned itinerary is made for his/her safety and is included in the tour program. These provisions also apply to other services and excursions related to this situation. Each client purchases the cruise as a whole and not a tour to a partial destination during the cruise.

No one can affect the weather

No one can really beat the weather, so it may happen that a ship cannot dock in one of the planned ports due to bad weather. The wind is the main influence on anchoring and sometimes it really happens that a ship cannot dock in a port because of bad weather. The cruise company may change the originally scheduled time of berthing in a port due to weather or for operational reasons. In this case the ship will continue its voyage. It may also happen that the cruise company knows in advance that bad weather (typhoon, hurricane...) will hit the area and the captain decides to change the course and the sailing programme for safety reasons. Please note that in this case there is no right to any compensation, discount on the cruise price or any other claims arising from this situation.

Always on time for the boat

The basic difference between a hotel holiday and a boat holiday is that the boat will never wait for you. This fact must be taken into account. It is indeed very important that you return to the ship on time as instructed by the shipping company. Please note that the itinerary sent in the check-in instructions and on the boarding pass is only indicative. Please pay close attention to the information given when disembarking the ship at the port. Getting on board is usually no later than 30 minutes before the ship leaves the port. If you miss boarding, the ship will not wait for you. If you miss boarding and the ship departs without you, you will not be entitled to any compensation. All costs associated with this situation will be charged to the late customer's account. Therefore, it is better to be on the ship an hour earlier than five minutes later. If you have booked a cruise with MSC at your destination and the group is delayed during the trip, you need not worry. The cruise company's excursions are a guaranteed service and in this case the ship is waiting for the clients.

Communication languages

English is the main language of communication on the ships, German, Italian French and Spanish are also spoken. Czech is not spoken on board. It is for these situations that we recommend cruises with transport and delegate, where a delegate will help you overcome the language barrier.
