Specifics of sea voyages

However, before you decide to go on a sea voyage, you need to realise one basic fact: you are not going on holiday to a hotel complex – you are not going on a sightseeing tour. You are going on a boat trip. This involves certain pitfalls that need to be taken into account, and we consider it important and our duty to inform you about some important facts.

A ship is a machine

During your holiday, you will be accommodated on a ship, and a ship is a machine. Therefore, it is possible that during the voyage you may feel vibrations or hear noise from the engines and motors in your cabin. Although this occurs to a minimal extent, it must be accepted and you cannot request a change of cabin, complain about this fact, or demand changes, discounts, etc.

Itinerary of sailing routes

Cruise itineraries are prepared up to three years in advance, and our travel agency creates individual tours approximately two years before the planned departure. During this time, the political and, above all, security situation in the region may change. We would like to point out that the cruise company and Riviera Tour travel agency are entitled to make operational changes to the programme and services provided before and during the trip if it is not possible to secure the originally agreed programme and services. For trips to regions where the current security situation may require a change in the route or cruise, there is no breach of the travel contract if the deviation in the cruise route does not exceed 60% of the originally planned cruise route. The customer acknowledges that any such deviation from the originally planned cruise route is made for the sake of their safety and is included in the tour programme. These provisions also apply to other services and excursions related to this situation. Each client purchases the cruise as a whole and not a trip to a partial destination during the cruise.

No one can influence the weather.

No one can control the weather, and therefore it may happen that adverse weather conditions prevent the ship from docking at one of the planned ports. Wind has the greatest impact on docking, and sometimes it really does happen that the ship cannot dock in the port due to bad weather. The shipping company may change the originally planned time of the ship's docking in the port due to weather or operational reasons. In such cases, the ship will continue on its journey. It may also happen that the shipping company knows in advance that bad weather (typhoon, hurricane, etc.) will hit the area and the captain decides to change the course and itinerary for safety reasons. Please note that in such cases, there is no entitlement to any compensation, discount on the price of the voyage or any other claims arising from this situation.

Always on time for the boat

The fundamental difference between a holiday in a hotel and on a ship is that the ship will never wait for you. It is essential to take this fact into account. It is really very important that you return to the ship on time according to the shipping company's instructions. Please note that the itinerary sent in the check-in instructions and on the boarding pass is only indicative. Pay close attention to the information provided when disembarking at the port. Boarding is usually no later than 30 minutes before the ship leaves the port. If you miss boarding, the ship will not wait for you. If you miss boarding and the ship departs without you, you are not entitled to any compensation. All costs associated with this situation will be charged to the late customer's account. Therefore, it is better to be on the ship an hour early than five minutes late. If you have booked an excursion with MSC Cruises at your destination and the group is delayed, there is no need to worry. Excursions organised by the cruise company are guaranteed services and in such cases the ship will wait for its customers.

Languages of communication

The main language of communication on the ships is English, but you can also communicate in German, Italian, French, and Spanish. You will not be able to communicate in Czech on the ship. For these situations, we recommend cruises with transport and a representative, where the representative will help you overcome the language barrier. If you understand and accept these terms and conditions, we can proceed to select a cruise. The cruise can be selected according to your requirements and demands in two basic groups.
