Tuscania is a small town in the Lazio region of Italy. Until the end of the 19th century, it was known as Toscanella. According to legend, it was founded by Aeneas's son Ascanius at the spot where he found twelve puppies (hence the Etruscan name Tus-Cana, where cana is akin to the Latin canis for "dog"). The town's main attraction is the Church of San Pietro, built in the Lombard-Romanesque style, begun in 739 and renovated in the 11th–12th century. The interior features a nave and two aisles divided by low columns and pilasters incorporating half-columns with antique and medieval capitals. The façade with its rose window also dates from the 12th century.
Upon arrival, check-in and boarding follows. In the afternoon, a tour of the ship, accommodation and a safety drill before departure. Don't miss the first departure from the port. Also, don't miss the first served dinner to enjoy the superb Italian cuisine. After dinner, we will visit the ship's theatre and finish the evening with a drink at the bar.
Civitavecchia, located on the western coast of Italy along the Tyrrhenian Sea, is a historic port city that has served as a vital gateway to Rome for centuries. Its name, meaning “ancient town” in Italian, reflects its origins, which date back to Etruscan times. However, it was during the Roman Empire that Civitavecchia gained prominence, when Emperor Trajan ordered the construction of the port in the early 2nd century CE to relieve congestion from Rome's main port at Ostia. The harbor, known as Centumcellae in ancient times, became an important hub for trade and naval operations. Remnants of this period, such as the Trajan's Arch and sections of the original Roman harbor, still exist today, showcasing the city’s deep historical roots.
Throughout the Middle Ages, Civitavecchia's strategic importance made it a contested site among various powers, including the Papal States, which controlled the city for much of its later history. It became heavily fortified, with landmarks such as the Forte Michelangelo, a formidable 16th-century fortress commissioned by Pope Julius II and partially designed by Michelangelo himself. In modern times, Civitavecchia remains a key port, serving as the main maritime link between Rome and the Mediterranean. It is also a popular departure point for cruises and ferries, connecting Italy to various islands and neighboring countries. With its rich history and ongoing role as a bustling port city, Civitavecchia continues to blend its ancient heritage with its modern significance.
In Greek mythology, Mykonos was the scene of battles between Zeus and the Giants, and the island itself was named after Apollo's grandson Mykonos. Today, it is one of the most popular Greek islands, mainly thanks to its vibrant nightlife. The island is famous for its many well-preserved windmills scattered across the landscape. Along the southern coast, there are also numerous sun-drenched beaches. However, it is above all the nightlife that has made the island so beloved. By day, the quaint and picturesque alleyways of the town transform every evening during the tourist season into a conglomerate of tavernas, pubs, bars and clubs that attract throngs of visitors from around the world. Thanks not only to its romantic nooks and beautiful architecture, but above all to its wild party spirit, Mykonos is nicknamed the "Greek Ibiza". We depart late at night, so you can experience it for yourself. An MSC Cruises transfer from the port to the centre is required (approx. €12).
The port of Mykonos, also known as the Old Port, has a rich history that dates back to the 5th century BC. It was a significant naval base during the Greco-Persian wars, contributing to the economic and military strength of Ancient Greece. The port's strategic location in the Aegean Sea made it an important hub for trade and navigation.
In the 20th century, the port of Mykonos transformed into a bustling tourist destination. Thanks to its picturesque views, vibrant nightlife, and beautiful beaches, it attracted visitors from around the world. Today, it continues to be a popular stop for cruise ships and private yachts, bearing testament to its enduring appeal and historical significance.
"Bird Island" captivates visitors with the enchanting panorama of a typical coastal resort with a yacht marina, turquoise-tinted waters and the Greek island of Samos on the horizon. It is a renowned Turkish tourist hub that attracts a large number of visitors each year who come to enjoy their holidays. It is also an ideal base for exploring western Turkey. Most of the tourist attractions in Kusadasi are located around the port area. Here you can admire, among other things, some fine examples of 19th-century half-timbered houses. The gate to the old town also survives. The bazaar quarter, overflowing with Turkish souvenirs, begins right at the dock. About half an hour's drive from the port, you will find the famous archaeological site of Ephesus.
The Port of Kusadasi in Turkey has a rich historical background dating back to the ancient times. It was first founded by the Leleges and later by the Ionians in the 11th century BC. The port city flourished during the Roman era, becoming a prominent trade and cultural hub.
In medieval times, Kusadasi was conquered by the Byzantine Empire and later by the Ottoman Empire. The port was used as a strategic naval base and a gateway to the Aegean Sea. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Turkey, attracting millions of tourists with its beautiful beaches and historical sites.
A picturesque seaside town on the south-western coast of Turkey, Marmaris combines natural beauty, rich history and modern comforts. Surrounded by the Aegean Sea and verdant mountains, Marmaris offers something for every visitor. Marmaris Castle is one of the main historical attractions of the town. Less than 24 km from Marmaris lies the ancient city of Amos, whose ruins offer a glimpse into life during the Hellenistic period. Visitors can explore the remains of an ancient theatre, a temple and other structures.
The history of Marmaris dates back to antiquity, when it was known as Physkos and was part of the Kara civilization. The city's strategic location has made it an important port and trading centre since the time of Ancient Greece. Over the centuries, the city has passed through the hands of various civilizations, including the Romans, the Byzantines and finally the Ottomans, who gave it its current name.
An important milestone in the history of Marmaris was the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century. He rebuilt the local castle, which became a key fortress in the fight against the expansionist Rhodesian Knights. Today this castle, towering over the harbour, is one of the city's main tourist attractions and a reminder of its rich and turbulent past. A stroll through the narrow streets of the old town will transport you to times long gone and allow you to feel the spirit of history mixing with modern life.

The Port of Naples, located in Naples, Italy, is one of the largest Italian seaports and one of the largest seaports in the Mediterranean Sea basin having an annual traffic capacity of around 25 million tons of cargo. This harbor's history dates back to the 8th century BC when it was first established by Greeks, which makes it one of the oldest operated ports in the world.
Over the centuries, the Port of Naples has seen various rulers and has been a significant maritime hub for different empires. In the Roman era, it served as a critical commercial port, facilitating trade across the empire. During the World War II, the port was severely damaged but was quickly rebuilt and expanded. Today, it not only serves as a crucial cargo terminal, but also as a vital ferry port, connecting numerous destinations across the Mediterranean.
