Dubai United Arab Emirates
24. January, 0:00 - 20:00

Early morning arrival in Dubai. Check-in and boarding, accommodation, safety drill, ship tour with delegate and personal free time. An unforgettable experience is the first departure from the port. In the evening, we will have our first multi-course dinner served, which will be a real gourmet experience. Afterwards, we will visit the ship's theatre for a variety show, and if there is still enough energy left, we will go to have fun with the animators.

Dubai, whose name can be translated into English as "The Meeting Place", is one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Persian Gulf. It is the most populous and second largest emirate in the UAE, after the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The ruler of Dubai is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE (the head of state is the Emir of Abu Dhabi). The capital of the emirate is the city of Dubai. The largest part of the emirate is occupied by the desert. The emirate is not subdivided into any lower administrative units, but since 1954 the emirate has had an institution called "Dubai Municipality", which is in charge of the emirate's day-to-day affairs, such as health, environment and urban planning.

The port of Dubai has a rich history, with its origins dating back to 1900s when it was established as a small fishing village. In the 1960s, the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, had the vision to transform the port into a major hub of maritime trade, leading to the construction of Port Rashid.

By 1979, Dubai's port was further expanded with the development of the Jebel Ali Port, the largest man-made harbor in the world, and the biggest port in the Middle East. Today, Dubai's ports serve as a crucial gateway for international trade and commerce. They have played a significant role in shaping Dubai's economy and its transformation into a global city.

3. day

Doha Qatar
25. January, 8:00 - 18:00

This modern port, cultural and commercial centre is also the capital of the tiny Arab state of Qatar. Thanks to its airport and advanced telecommunications, this metropolis is also perfectly connected to the outside world. The city was founded in 1825 under the name of Al-Bidha, the name Doha itself is derived from the Arabic ad-dawha, which means "big tree". Doha was named the capital of the British Protectorate in 1916. Doha also offers a number of places to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, whether it's the seaside promenade of The Corniche or Aspire Park. Shopping enthusiasts will be enchanted by the traditional Souq Waqif market, as well as modern shopping malls where you can pick up everything you can think of, from clothing and arts and crafts to exotic spices and delicious local specialities. The city's famous Muslim mosques are a landmark. In the very centre of Doha, you'll find the Al-Kout Fortress, built in 1880. The fort was completely renovated in 1978 and now serves as a showplace for traditional handicrafts.

Port Doha, known as the Doha Port, is one of the oldest ports in the Middle East. It is located in the capital city of Qatar, Doha, and has played a significant role in the country's history. The port was originally used for pearl trading, which was Qatar's main industry before the discovery of oil.

In the 20th century, the Doha Port underwent significant transformations, evolving from a traditional trading post to a modern, world-class harbor. The port was expanded and modernized to accommodate the growing oil industry. In 2017, the port was moved to a new location and renamed as Hamad Port to honor the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

4. day

Bahrain Bahrain
26. January, 8:00 - 19:00

Bahrain is the smallest country in the Gulf region. Its closest neighbours are Saudi Arabia to the west and Qatar to the southeast. The state consists of the main island of the same name and 32 smaller islands, including an adjacent sea area. The main island of the archipelagic state of Bahrain was separated from the Arabian Peninsula around 6000 BC. The people of Bahrain take great pride in the fact that they were one of the first areas within mainland Arabia to embrace Islam. This was done quite peacefully. In June 1932, a large amount of oil was discovered in Bahrain. As Bahrain was the first Gulf state to discover oil, it was also the first to enjoy the benefits that came along with the revenues - this was reflected in improved education and healthcare. Bahrain is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Middle East. About 2 million foreign tourists visit annually, mostly from the Arab states along the Arabian Gulf.

Bahrain, an island nation in the Persian Gulf, has a history that stretches back thousands of years. Known as Dilmun in ancient times, it was a major trading hub linking Mesopotamia, India, and the Arabian Peninsula as early as 3000 BCE. Dilmun was celebrated in Sumerian texts as a prosperous and sacred land. Over the centuries, Bahrain came under the influence of various empires, including the Assyrians, Babylonians, and later the Persians. During the advent of Islam in the 7th century, Bahrain was one of the first regions to adopt the new faith, becoming an important cultural and economic center in the Islamic world.

In more recent history, Bahrain was a British protectorate from the 19th century until gaining independence in 1971. Its economy, originally based on pearling and fishing, transitioned to oil production after the discovery of oil in 1932, making Bahrain the first Gulf state to exploit its oil reserves. Today, Bahrain is a modern nation known for its financial and commercial sectors, hosting a mix of ancient landmarks, such as the Bahrain Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and modern attractions like the Bahrain World Trade Center and the Formula 1 Bahrain International Circuit.

Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates
28. January, 7:00 - 21:00

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and the capital of the emirate of the same name. The city has a population of 1,500,000 and has a chequered past, including a period when it was a haven for pirates. Since the 1960s, the city has undergone a dizzying transformation into a modern centre with wide boulevards and tall buildings. Little of the old town remains today, with the exception of the Old Palace, which represents one of the oldest buildings built above the spring. Abu Dhabi has hosted the Red Bull Air Race, an international aerobatic competition. The Grand Mosque of Sheikh Zayed - its architecture was derived from the Moroccan mosque in Casablanca, it is one of the largest in the Islamic world. It covers an area of 22,412 square metres and can accommodate 41,000 worshippers; women are only allowed to enter wearing long garments covering the head (hair), arms and legs.

The history of the port in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, traces back to the late 1960s. The port, officially named Zayed Port after the founder of UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has been the main gateway for trade in the region for over 40 years. It was originally built with the purpose of diversifying the Emirate's trade routes and reducing its dependency on the region's traditional camel routes.

In 2012, a new port was established, the Khalifa Port, which has taken over the commercial traffic that was originally handled by the Zayed Port. Khalifa Port is considered one of the most technologically advanced ports in the world, and now serves as the main maritime gateway for Abu Dhabi. Despite this transition, the Zayed Port continues to play a crucial role, accommodating cruise ships and fostering tourism in the region.

7. day

Sir Bani Yas United Arab Emirates
29. January, 8:00 - 18:00

We anchor on a natural island about 170 km from Abu Dhabi. The island is the largest nature reserve in Arabia. Thanks to conservation and ecological investments, it has become home to thousands of wild animals and several million plants and trees. The reserve was established in 1977 by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. A visit to this place will be an amazing experience especially for nature, fauna and flora lovers.

The port of Sir Bani Yas in the United Arab Emirates has a long and storied history. It is located on Sir Bani Yas Island, which was a key location for the early civilization of the Bani Yas tribe. The tribe was one of the major groups that settled in the UAE, with a history dating back to the 16th century.

In the late 20th century, the island was transformed into a wildlife reserve by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE. The port of Sir Bani Yas has since become a popular destination for luxury cruise ships, offering visitors a unique combination of natural beauty and historical significance.

Jana Kristeková

I came to Riviera Tour from Bratislava and MSC Cruises, where I worked for 4 seasons as a crew member in the excursion department. I fell in love with life at sea there and had a lot of experiences that I can't stop talking about. On cruises with me, you'll also find out a lot of behind-the-scenes secrets. Aside from cruises, I'm a content creator. So you can reminisce about some of our experiences together through texts or videos on the Riviera Tour News pages.
