Tuscania is a town in the province of Viterbo in the Lazio region of Italy . Until the late 19th century, the town was known as Toscanella. According to legend, Tuscania was founded by Aeneas's son Ascanius where he found twelve puppies of dogs (from where the Etruscan name Tus - Cana, cana being similar to the Latin canis for "dog"). The main attraction of the town is the church of San Pietro, built in the Lombard-Romanesque style, begun in 739 and renovated in the 11th-12th centuries. The interior has a nave and two aisles divided by low columns and pilasters incorporating half columns with antique and medieval capitals. The facade with a rosette window also dates from the 12th century.
Upon arrival, check-in and check-in to the ship. In the afternoon a familiarization tour of the boat, accommodation and safety drill before departure. Definitely don't miss the first departure from the port. Also, don't miss the first served dinner to enjoy the great Italian gastronomy. We will visit the ship's theatre and finish the evening with a drink at the bar.
The history of the Italian port Civitavecchia dates back to the 2nd century during the reign of Emperor Trajan. The port was established as the port of Rome and was originally known as Centumcellae. Its strategic location and well-constructed harbor made it a critical asset to the Roman Empire, facilitating both military and commercial operations.
Over the centuries, the port of Civitavecchia has faced numerous invasions and destructions. It was destroyed by Barbarossa in 828 AD and then rebuilt by Pope Innocent XII in the late 17th century. Today, Civitavecchia serves as a major port for ferry connections to destinations like Sicily, Sardinia and other parts of the Mediterranean. It is also a popular departure point for Mediterranean cruises.
In Greek mythology, Mykonos was the scene of battles between Zeus and the Giants, and the island itself was named after Apollo's grandson Mykonos. Today, Mykonos is one of the most popular Greek islands. It is famous for the many well-preserved windmills that can be found all over the island. The church of Panagias Paraportiani is also worth mentioning. There are also a number of good beaches on the island, especially on its southern coast.
However, the island's nightlife is one of the most popular in the Mediterranean. During the day, Mykonos' quaint and quirky streets turn into a conglomeration of tavernas, pubs, bars and clubs that attract many tourists every night during the tourist season. Not only thanks to its romantic nooks and crannies and beautiful architecture, but above all thanks to its wild "party" nature, for which Mykonos is nicknamed "Greek Ibiza", the island has become a popular and highly sought after European resort.
We recommend the MSC Cruises transfer from the port to the city, in this destination it is really necessary, price about 12€.
The port of Mykonos, also known as the Old Port, has a rich history that dates back to the 5th century BC. It was a significant naval base during the Greco-Persian wars, contributing to the economic and military strength of Ancient Greece. The port's strategic location in the Aegean Sea made it an important hub for trade and navigation.
In the 20th century, the port of Mykonos transformed into a bustling tourist destination. Thanks to its picturesque views, vibrant nightlife, and beautiful beaches, it attracted visitors from around the world. Today, it continues to be a popular stop for cruise ships and private yachts, bearing testament to its enduring appeal and historical significance.
"Bird Island" attracts with its magical panorama of a typical coastal resort with a yacht harbour, turquoise coloured water and the Greek island of Samos on the horizon. It is a renowned Turkish resort where a large number of tourists visit every year to enjoy their holidays. It is also ideal for exploring the western part of Turkey, making it a popular resort for travellers. Most of the tourist attractions in Kusadasi are located in the port area. You can see, among others, some good examples of half-timbered houses from the 19th century. The gateway to the old town also survives. The bazaar district, brimming with Turkish souvenirs, starts right at the dock. In Kusadasi, we recommend an optional MSC excursion to the nearby ancient city of Ephesus.
The Port of Kusadasi in Turkey has a rich historical background dating back to the ancient times. It was first founded by the Leleges and later by the Ionians in the 11th century BC. The port city flourished during the Roman era, becoming a prominent trade and cultural hub.
In medieval times, Kusadasi was conquered by the Byzantine Empire and later by the Ottoman Empire. The port was used as a strategic naval base and a gateway to the Aegean Sea. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Turkey, attracting millions of tourists with its beautiful beaches and historical sites.
Definitely the most beautiful destination of the whole cruise. The beautiful white houses and churches in contrast with the blue colour will literally make you take a lot of beautiful photos. The ship is anchored in the open sea in the crater of a volcano. We are transported to the mainland by boats and then follow the donkey trail, which we definitely recommend for all adrenaline lovers, but also for fun (about 9 euros/person). Santorini is truly amazing and you too will admire the narrow streets, the many shops and cafes and above all the amazing views that tempt you to take endless photos.
The port of Santorini, also known as Athinios port, is located on the west coast of the island, in the caldera. Athinios port is the main commercial and passenger port of the island. Historically, Santorini did not have a natural safe harbor, so the current port was constructed in the 1960s to accommodate the increasing number of visitors to the island.
Before the construction of Athinios port, Fira Skala, a small port beneath the capital Fira, served as the main port. It was used primarily by fishermen and for the export of the island’s famous produce like tomatoes and fava beans. Amoudi port in Oia was also used for similar purposes. However, after the 1956 earthquake, it was decided to build a new, larger port to meet the growing demands of tourism and trade.
In the morning we will go on a tour of this amazing city. The capital of Campania will offer us a stroll through the historic centre, a chance to shop for the latest fashions, or for the true travellers a visit to the Spanish Quarter, which was a closed quarter with its own rules under the rule of the Mafia just a few decades ago. You can also visit the headquarters of MSC Cruises or take advantage of optional excursions to Vesuvius or Pompeii.
The Port of Naples, located in Naples, Italy, is one of the largest Italian seaports and one of the largest seaports in the Mediterranean Sea basin having an annual traffic capacity of around 25 million tons of cargo. This harbor's history dates back to the 8th century BC when it was first established by Greeks, which makes it one of the oldest operated ports in the world.
Over the centuries, the Port of Naples has seen various rulers and has been a significant maritime hub for different empires. In the Roman era, it served as a critical commercial port, facilitating trade across the empire. During the World War II, the port was severely damaged but was quickly rebuilt and expanded. Today, it not only serves as a crucial cargo terminal, but also as a vital ferry port, connecting numerous destinations across the Mediterranean.
In the morning after breakfast we disembark from the ship and can look forward to exploring more beautiful places during the day. The tour is not over yet.

I came to Riviera Tour from Bratislava and MSC Cruises, where I worked for 4 seasons as a crew member in the excursion department. I fell in love with life at sea there and had a lot of experiences that I can't stop talking about. On cruises with me, you'll also find out a lot of behind-the-scenes secrets. Aside from cruises, I'm a content creator. So you can reminisce about some of our experiences together through texts or videos on the Riviera Tour News pages.
